Statement of Faith
Statement of Faith
Grace Ville Theological College and Seminary stands firmly on the foundation of God’s Word as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. Our teaching, training, and spiritual formation are rooted in the historic Christian faith, as expressed in the following core doctrines:
1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe that the Bible, comprising the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and life. The Scriptures were written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, and are fully sufficient for teaching, correction, and training in righteousness.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21)
2. The Trinity
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—equal in power and glory, yet distinct in role and operation.
(Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
3. God the Father
We believe in God the Father Almighty, the Creator and Sustainer of heaven and earth. He is holy, loving, merciful, and just. He orders all things for His glory and the good of His people.
(Genesis 1:1; Psalm 103:19; Romans 8:28)
4. God the Son: Jesus Christ
We believe in the full deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as the perfect and final sacrifice for sin through His death on the cross. He was bodily raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for believers. He will physically return in glory to judge the living and the dead.
(John 1:1–14; Philippians 2:6–11; Hebrews 7:25)
5. God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates the sinner, and indwells, empowers, and sanctifies the believer. The Holy Spirit enables believers to grow in holiness, produce spiritual fruit, and serve in the Body of Christ.
(John 16:7–15; Galatians 5:22–25; Acts 1:8)
6. Humanity and the Fall
We believe that God created humanity—male and female—in His image, with dignity and purpose. However, through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world, bringing death and separation from God. All people are born with a sinful nature and are in need of redemption.
(Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12)
7. Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. This salvation is not earned by works, but is the free gift of God. It includes justification, adoption, sanctification, and will culminate in glorification at Christ’s return.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; Titus 3:5–7)
8. The Ordinances
We believe in two ordinances instituted by Christ:
Baptism: The water Baptism of believers as a public testimony of faith in Christ and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.
The Lord’s Supper: The regular remembrance of Christ’s atoning death, celebrated with reverence, self-examination, and joy.
(Romans 6:3–4; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26)
9. Satan and the Spiritual Realm
We believe in the reality of Satan, a personal spiritual being, originally created as a holy angel who rebelled against God. He is the enemy of God and His people, the deceiver of the nations, and the accuser of the saints. Though active in the world today, Satan is a defeated foe through Christ’s death and resurrection and will ultimately be cast into the lake of fire for eternal punishment.
(Isaiah 14:12–15; Ezekiel 28:12–17; Matthew 4:1–11; Revelation 20:10)
We also acknowledge the existence of demons (fallen angels) and holy angels, all created by God. Angels serve God’s purposes; demons serve Satan and oppose the Church, but both remain under God’s sovereign authority.
(Hebrews 1:14; Ephesians 6:12)
10. The Last Things
We believe in the literal, visible, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ. There will be a resurrection of the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal judgment. God will create a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells, and believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with Him.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20–22)
